31st Dec 2002
Hi everybody!
Just today I surfed in at Ram's great site, read some things in the guest book plus his own story and some stuff and just couldn't wait to become a new member of this VAD club. So, though we all have other things to do these last days of the year, I would like to introduce myself and ask some questions.
I'm a 46 years old male from The Netherlands, married and three daughters. My profession: art director. So I can be found 'round my Mac most of the time...
Since I guess most of you are from English-speaking countries I want to apologize for my bad English. If necessary, please
do read between the lines and be creative enough to imagine my good intentions!
28 september 2002 I woke up at 5.30 with a strange feeling in my head. That same night there was a bed for me at the 'Brain Care Unit' in our local hospital.
An MRI scan showed a clear case of Wallenberg syndrome.
I was in the hospital for 4 weeks, the first 3/4 days were terrible, then I started to get better. After 4 weeks I got permission to go home, but I choose to go to a revalidation center. Stayed there for another 6 weeks, now I'm home and are visiting a logopedist- and fysio therapist 3 times a week.
I can walk, but not a straight line... I still have temperature and
sensory loss on the left side of my entire body. The problem with my right eye (Horner) is slightly getting better. Right side of the face still numb and a little painful, like I had a surgery.
Anybody with kind of same story can tell me about how these complains slowly disappeared...?
I hope one of these days some of you will find the time to reply and maybe get me some answers, hope or personal stories to cheer me up a little. I'm looking forward.
For now: Happy Holidays to y'all,
and my best wishes for 2003!
Thanx!
Ger
